About the deck
The KL Tower (Menara Kuala Lumpur) observation deck sits at 276 metres near the top of the 421m communications tower on Bukit Nanas, a forested hill in central Kuala Lumpur. Unlike most observation towers, KL Tower sits on elevated ground, which means the actual altitude above sea level is higher than the stated deck elevation above the base. The deck offers clear views of the nearby Petronas Twin Towers (the observation targets from most KL decks) and the city centre.
A glass-floor Sky Box is available on the outdoor level. The tower opened in 1996, the same year as the Petronas Twin Towers..
The honest take
KL Tower is the underrated alternative to the Petronas Towers Skybridge. The deck elevation (276m) is higher than the Petronas Skybridge (170m) and views of the Petronas Towers from a comparable height at a distance are arguably better than views from within the Petronas complex.
