About the deck

Top of the Rock is the 70th-floor observation deck of 30 Rockefeller Plaza at 259 metres. The deck is fully outdoor across three graduated tiers, offering unobstructed views of Midtown Manhattan in all directions. The view of the Empire State Building from Top of the Rock is one of the most recognisable urban views in the world.

Unlike many competitors, Top of the Rock does not require navigating an enclosed lobby-deck before reaching the outdoor portion..

The honest take

30 Rockefeller Plaza is not in the Honest 100 - at 259m it is below the current 100-building threshold. But Top of the Rock remains one of the best-value outdoor decks in New York for what it delivers: direct sightlines to the Empire State Building, Central Park, and the full Midtown skyline without glass panels between you and the city. The Empire State Building (Vanity Ratio: 2.1%) looks honest from up here.
