About the deck
Auckland's Sky Tower stands 328m tall and is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere. The main observation level is at 186 metres; the Sky Deck with glass floors is at 220 metres. The outdoor observation area allows visitors to look straight down through the glass panels to street level below.
The tower also hosts the SkyJump (a controlled freefall from 192m) and SkyWalk (an outdoor guided walk around the tower exterior at 192m, both additional experiences). The views from the tower cover the full Auckland isthmus, with the Waitemata Harbour to the east, Manukau Harbour to the south, and on clear days, the Coromandel Peninsula and Northland..
The honest take
Sky Tower Auckland is New Zealand's only significant high-altitude observation option, and at NZD 47 ($28.20 USD) for 220m, it costs more per metre than most comparable Asian towers. The outdoor SkyWalk and SkyJump add-ons are internationally recognised extreme experiences - if you're visiting New Zealand and can tolerate heights, this tower has more to offer than the standard observation deck.
